GSAR - Ground Search and Rescue

The goal for Polaris Ground Teams
Provide multiple four person teams to support SAR operations in back country environments capable of self-sustainment for 72 hours.
- Provide non-technical team at this time that can be paired with technical teams in the SAR community for force multiplication
- Provide a base for developing a team that can support more technical SAR assets (drones, UAS) in the future.

Introductory Communications User Training in eServices
ORM level 1 training in eServices

Physical Fitness Standards: 

Fitness testing will be conducted quarterly

- Active Ground Team Members are expected to qualify under the "Arduous Fitness Requirements" (45 lbs of gear for 3 miles under 45 minutes)

- Ground Team Support Members are expected to qualify under the "Moderate Fitness Requirements" (25 lbs backpack for 2 miles under 30 minutes)
  -- Wilderness Incident Command Post/Staging Area Staff

- Mission Base Staff/Comm Unit Leaders are expected to qualify under the "Light Fitness Requirements" (1 mile walk in under 16 minutes, no gear)

Active Ground Team Member training: 
- CAP Urban Direction Finding Team member within 3 months
- CAP Ground Team Member Level 3 within 3 months
- CAP Ground Team Member Level 2 within 6 months (GTM1 is optional)
- Avalanche Rescue Course
- NASAR Introduction to Search and Rescue Course within 1 year
- NASAR Fundamentals of Search and Rescue Course within 2 years
- HeliSpot Operations

- ICS 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents
- ICS 330/E984 Strike Team/Task Force Leader Course

- Avalanche Assessment Level 1
